Here is your song for the week: Veyomar Elohim – Reach For the Light
Solstice time has always touched me. It is the darkest moment of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, yet the moment where the light begins to return. What a balance point!
This song, Veyomar Elohim, was written during my healing journey of 2021-2023. I was struggling to sleep, eat and breathe properly. Yet I was able to find my voice and sing through the worst of it. This still amazes me!
Veyomar Elohim is the Hebrew words “Let there be light” from Genesis 1:3. I learned this phrase when accompanying Amir O’Loughlin in Vancouver at Universal Kirtan in the earlier 2000’s.
Though I am Jewish and deeply connected through time to this tradition, I believe that all ancient traditions lead to a space of the heart. This is a space of unending, undying, overflowing, and ever present love.
My prayer for the new year:
May our human society and culture find light from within and cultivate spaces and relationships of joy, freedom, respect, openness, expansion, compassion, laughter, and forgiveness. May we truly meet in the underlying unity.
What is your prayer? I’d love to hear.
Much love and another song soon,
Beyond all sound is the one who listens
Beyond all visions is the one who sees
Reach for the light
In the darkest hour
Reach for the light
In the shining dawn
Beyond all sound is the one who listens
Beyond all visions is the one who sees
Reach for the light
In the darkest hour
Reach for the light
In the shining dawn
Veyomar Elohim
Yehi Or Va Yehi Or
Veyomar Elohim
Yehi Or Va Yehi Or
Reach for the light
In the darkest hour
Reach for the light
In the shining dawn
Veyomar Elohim
Yehi Or Va Yehi Or
Veyomar Elohim
Yehi Or Va Yehi Or
