Remember The Moon

My song for you this week is called Remember the Moon.

It was a cold winter’s night and my mom and I were walking home from the highway up to our mountain homestead.  I was about 8 years old.

Sometimes in the winter we had to walk the 2 miles home, once the car could no longer make it up the road from too much snow.  We had snowmobiles, but even these were unreliable and would break down.  Sometimes we just had to depend on our legs to get us home!

It was a beautiful full moon night with just my mom and me.  When we reached the spot where crown land turned to our property, there was a little turnaround and a tall hemlock tree.  We stood there and looked at the moon, our breath showing in the frosty air.

In that moment my mom said to me:  “let’s always remember this moment.”  It was magical.  This song, Remember The Moon, tells the story.

I hope you enjoy it!

Love and another song soon,

Zoey

Here are the words:

Remember the Moon

Footsteps fell on the road to home

Fairies danced on frozen drifts of snow

Crystal wings and twinkling eyes

Led our journey that magic night

Remember the moon  – take a step

Remember the moon – catch your breath

I am here with you

Moon was full and would not forget

You my strolling shadow silhouette

Little hand in knitted glove

Holding fast to your innocence

Remember the moon  – take a step

Remember the moon – catch your breath

I am here with you

Now you’ve grown, time’s moved on

Paths rejoin at night like flashlights shone

See the sky and you will smile

Silent silver, she spreads for miles

And when you see the moon – I am here with you

And when the snow falls clear and true I am here with you

And when the darkness looms I am here.

Remember the moon  – take a step

Remember the moon – catch your breath

I am here with you

Remember the moon

Remember the moon

Remember the moon
