Heart Sutra

Let me take this moment to express my deep thanks and appreciation for you in my life – and to wish you a very joyous holiday season and a happy new year!

I’d like to share a special chant with you, the Heart Sutra, that I wrote.  The words are part of the Buddhist Lotus Sutra.  I first shared this version when I started  Women’s HeartSong Circle in Port Moody in 2014.  Women’s HeartSong is still going, led by my dear friend Kim Muirhead.  Yeay!!

Listen to the track here

Gate, gate paragate

Parasangate, boddhisvaha

The translation of the Sanskrit words have two meanings.  The first translation is “Gone, gone, gone beyond.”  It’s truly something to contemplate:  that we can go into such depths of peace and silence in meditation.

However, I love sharing the second translation because it really speaks to the essence of the heart:  “Becoming, becoming, always becoming.”

Always becoming…  What do you want to become in 2023?

I hope you enjoy the chant.  It was arranged and recorded by my dear friend and divine musician-composer, Anne Leader.  Here it is.

From my heart to yours,

Zoey
