Am I A Star?

I hope you are enjoying the songs I’m sending out.  If you missed listening to any of them, you can always go here to hear them all.

Here is a playful and creative song I completed in 2011 called Am I A Star?

This song is about the hopeful “Star Student” who dreamed as a youth that she could go out and conquer the world.  It turned out the world had a lot to teach her:  the world was nothing like the sheltered container of school.

We all have character strategies that we develop to survive.  Mine was to figure out who had the power in a situation, and then try to please them.

As I step into my full power and heal my nervous system, I am learning that my happiness comes from standing tall in my truth and trusting the answers that lie within.  I hope you enjoy this song!

Also, I wanted to let you know that since December, we have been raising funds for medical expenses. I am currently doing 3 cutting edge therapies to heal from acquired brain injury.  It’s a big process! Here is the link to the fundraiser.

So much love and another song soon,

Zoey

Am I a Star?

She was bright when you met her, she was free and unfettered

She would follow wherever you would lead

She looked up to the sky, she looked up to her father

She reached up for the apple on the tree.

REFRAIN:

I am putting up my hand because I think I know the answer

I am reaching out to you

I am putting up my hand because I have a burning question

Oh teacher am I right or am I wrong?

She is sitting and scribbling, words from lips that are spilling

Filling pages with empty memories.

She is riding a highway on a bus sitting sideways

Like a monkey – ready to jump free.

REFRAIN

She is standing on stage behind microphones and wires

Like a storefront – dressed for her admirers.

But the curtain is falling and it always ends the same

Seats are folding as lights they quickly fade.

REFRAIN

She is high in the heavens standing tall, waving feathers

She is singing to please no one at all.

On her lips hang a smile and her heart runs for miles

Down the valley and out into the galaxy.
